better late than never.

I am little more than late with this week  It has been a crazy week there was another job interview and some crazy parties which is why I haven't written my blog. Everyone here seems to have come down with a cold or sore throat execpt me. Which is fun.

God is doing some amazing stuff as ever  and life is just plodding along here.

Hmm I expect there are going to be weeks like this. I love it here and it is very exciting but we have kind of hit that nothing is new lets just get on with it place which is great.

Anyway I still don't have a job so keep praying for that...

Retreat and a little more than a week.

This weekend  4-6 Oct was the national Discipleship year weekend retreat. It was amazing because we got to meet all the other people from all the other centres across the country which was great. God really spoke to me about my trust issues and I abseiled down a huge tower. The guy who was running the abseiling prayed for me and he said  think on what it says in psalm 23 ' yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I fear no evil...

On monday I started an evening theology course because I am clearly not getting enough theology. I enjoyed it and I now have some reading to do. This doing lots of theology made me remember why I dropped RS at school. I mean I did it GCSE but not A level. Firstly because at that time I was scared that if I studied my faith I would realise there was nothing there. Secondly because I get confused by the bible quite easily. One of my tasks and targets for this year is to read the whole bible I have read it all at least once at some point in my life just not in the space of a year. The other is to get together some foundational theologies.

This week we learned about God's promises to us and about how to read the bible knowing the context of the genre and what form the text was supposed to be that was great. we had good fun writing our own genre specific stuff. I also have been helping with Alpha which is good fun I get to be on the door giving out stickers which is really fun and the team are great.

Thursday was my second week with the older people because my church internship is split between working with the students and the seniors. This Thursday it was their dinner which was fun I got to meet some lovely new people. I love working with them. Student Alpha was great we had good fun with it all. We were on who is Jesus which is always an interesting one.

So Job front well this is the reason for the lateness in post. I have had a telephone interview this week with a well known UK department store and they have called my back for interview next Saturday so I am hoping that something comes of it. I didn't get the jewellery shop job because of my hours being wrong and it turns out I am not eligible for job seekers. So that just leaves trusting God which I have been doing for months and months hmm do we think I am learning a good lesson in patience?

What the DISC?

So week three. I was delayed in writing because we didn't get internet in our new house till yesterday. Its an amazing testament to God's extravagance and grace that we now almost have all the furniture that we need and some that we vaguely asked for like a dishwasher. I have a bed which makes me incredibly happy my back was really painful on the air mattress.

Anyway This week has been amazing I am now into full swing here and Alpha has started which I am helping with the admin of both of normal alpha and student alpha. I am really loving being here its so different from London where I was before, not the church well its a little more actually a lot more evangelical and spirit led than where I was before. But then where I grew up was different again. No two churches are the same and God uses and works through all of them isn't that so amazing... Its more than just the church it's silly things like well the fact that walking home at night isn't very scary not that it really was where I was in london but it just feels so much safer here and you can walk a mile in the middle of the day without bumping into people you know or people full stop. This is  the most rural place I have ever lived, from our house you can see the rolling hills of a national park. Although there was lots of green space in London here its like everywhere.

Tuesday's teaching was good I am really loving the bible 101 classes Tuesday we talked about the Writer's Context and the history behind what we read which of course pushed all my history buttons. I love history and I am a geek for history so I probably spoke too much perhaps I should be a better student.  Anyway after this we the session on our disc profile. no I din't know what it was either until I read our handbook about it. It is personality typing thing like Myers Briggs but to be honest myers briggs made so much more sense anyway it was about whether you were extroverted or introverted and task or people orientated It confused me no end and I have to make sense of it at some point because we have to do a personal development plan using it. I am going to have to get my head around that.

After teaching on Tuesday I went to a job interview. It went amazingly well and I was devastated when I got an email saying that they had chosen someone else because they had better availability she made it very clear that it was not because I wasn't a suitable candidate or that she was in any way a better candidate than me. Which is really disheartening because all my friends seem to be getting jobs at the moment and I am not. I am not sure what god is doing here.

So prayer requests
-pray for the alpha course
- that I find a job or at least a means of supporting myself.
- pray for our national discipleship year weekend away tommorow
